ADHD Assessment.

Diagnosing ADHD is a complex task and the cost of your assessment below reflects this. There are several steps to assure an accurate diagnosis and follow NICE guidelines.

You would need to meet certain criteria according to the Diagnostic Manual known as DSM 5

You would need to commit to filling in 2 screening questionnaires;  The Connors ADHD Screening (CARRS), which helps a clinician to understand what difficulties are you experiencing that may be indicative of the ADHD, and The Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale that will help us to understand how is your potential condition impacting on your life.

In addition, you would need to attend a semi-structured interview called DIVA 5  which will help us to tease out examples to determine or to exclude your diagnosis.

What does it mean for you?

Firstly, I will e mail you a link to the CARRS questionnaire that you submit online. I e mail you the second questionnaire and asks you to fill it, scan and return it to me.   This should not take more than 30 minutes for both.

Secondly, upon receiving the completed questionnaires, we meet online for a pre-assessment meeting (initial consultation) to discuss the questionnaires. This is important because ADHD overlaps with other conditions such as anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder and we may decide not to proceed further.  I may ask you to fill in additional questionnaires if appropriate.

Thirdly, we meet for your ADHD assessment lasting approximately 2-3 hours.  It would be very useful if you can ask an informant, i.e. a person who knows you well; for example for spouse and or a parent who can reflect on your childhood and adult experiences.  Your informant(s) will be also administered a different CARRS questionnaire.  It is not likely that you receive ADHD diagnosis straight after your assessment.  This is because I need to read all the information and carefully consider the diagnosis.

Fourthly, we discuss the results of your assessment and recommendations in a feedback session.

Fifthly, if you wish to receive additional support such as learning strategies to manage your condition, we can discuss your needs and put together a treatment plan.
